I'm not sure what the fascination is with snow on flowers, but I have it, and these were just lovely after the first snow of the season.

8.30.08 Orchid under water

This is a real orchid at the Broadmoor Hotel, decor for a formal event that was going on the night we were there for a Stick Horses in Pants show. It is submerged under water in a columnar glass vase, illuminated by a floating candle. Absolutely breathtaking.

Here, I can showcase several things at once:

1. gorgeous sunflowers my dear husband bought me for no reason whatsoever
2. a slice of coffee cake which is derived from a recipe from my friend Karen
3. the plate I painted at a ceramics shop with my daughter this year

7.14.08 Yellow flowers

I want to say these are orchids, but aren't orchids purple? Maybe there are yellow ones. Either way, they were very pretty.

7.11.08 Glasses at the Hilton

Visited my brother and sister-in-law over the weekend, and my mom, my son, and I stayed at a Hilton hotel for the night.

I walked by these flowers and thought, "Yes, they're pretty, but they're not very interesting." Then I noticed several bees feeding on them, and viola! My picture of the day arrived!

I've been seeing these popping up all over town, and today I stopped and finally captured one.

I don't care if they ARE weeds. I still think they can be pretty. (Of course, this isn't my yard...)

5.1.08 Snow white

We had a sudden and heavy snowfall around 8:00 a.m. By 10:00, everything was blanketed in a thick layer of white. It stopped snowing at about 11:00. By 1:00 in the afternoon, the sun had come out so brightly, it melted practically all the snow away. But I did get a shot of these snowy blossoms before the evidence disappeared.

Guys, there is no greater gift you can give to your daughters than to treat them like the princesses they are. Buy them flowers for their birthdays. For Valentine's Day. For Christmas. For any occasion or non-occasion you can think up.

Show her what she should expect when she one day seeks that man who will become her husband. Raise her standards, for there is no higher standard than a little girl's daddy.

1.29.08 Variegated tulips

My mom gave us a couple flowering plants this week. I'm keeping this one in our kitchen. The other is in our bedroom. And the last one, my daughter adopted as her own.

1.10.08 No occasion flowers

My husband gave me these tulips on Monday. Wasn't that sweet? They were no-occasion flowers. :o) They opened up to their fullest today.
