8.30.08 Orchid under water
This is a real orchid at the Broadmoor Hotel, decor for a formal event that was going on the night we were there for a Stick Horses in Pants show. It is submerged under water in a columnar glass vase, illuminated by a floating candle. Absolutely breathtaking.

8.29.08 A fun mess to make
A friend of mine, Evangeline, has a hilarious blog that she started writing several months ago. We've been talking about the design for awhile, and I told her that she could do so much more with it.
After researching photos and having a photo shoot of our own, we came up with a design that communicates both sexy, sophisticated woman and hard-working, normal stay-at-home mom.
A Flickr.com contributor, LisaBelle0705, granted us permission to use this awesome image from her Photostream.
Then Evangeline and I got together this afternoon to stage the above shot. The final result, after an afternoon of having fun in Photoshop, can be seen at breathenbreathout.blogspot.com.

8.28.08 Birthday Wishes
My birthday is on Sunday. This is the first birthday card I received this week. :o) It's from the same friend of mine who has been inadvertently featured during my Project 365 several times this year.

8.27.08 IMing is Fun!
I normally don't have that many IM windows open. It was so unusual that I had to take a picture for today's image. If you closely at the larger image (click the one above), you can see in the far right IM box, I'm telling my friend MightiMidget that I'm going to take a picture of the screen. :oD

8.25.08 Vampire Cat
This is actually the original "mangy cat." He was just a kitten when I was sitting at the computer, trying to think of a Yahoo ID so I could figure out what this whole chat room thing was about. He was tearing around the house, so I suddenly thought, "That mangy cat!" which was a phrase used in a cartoon some time ago. That was 11 years back. I've been "mangy cat" everywhere online since.

8.23.08 Already?
It's August. Does anyone else see something wrong with this picture? (Besides the fact that it's fuzzy. :oP)

8.22.08 Last call
Friday after putting the kids down to bed, I gave myself permission to go to bed at 7:00 p.m. I woke up (predictably) at 11:30 p.m., took this picture, read, and went back to bed at 1:00 a.m. When I awoke naturally at 7:00 a.m., I felt more refreshed than I have in a long, long time.

8.20.08 Pear tree
This is kind of fun: These are the pears that have grown from the snow-covered blossoms I featured back in May.

8.19.08 Midnight Eclipse
The shape of the light coming from this solar lamp caught my eye tonight. I had to enhance it in Photoshop to get the brightness and contrast just so. Love the way this one came out.

8.10.08 New writing spot
The Waffle House is awesome. No outlets, no wi-fi. But they have excellent good and service, not to mention that their booths are comfy enough with their curved backs.

8.9.08 Short Story
A friend of mine has this delightful old typewriter that used to belong to her grandfather. She typed up "Once upon a time...", and one of her recent house guests finished the story for her.

8.8.08 Goodwill
I've always liked the Goodwill logo. Did you ever notice that it's a lower case "g" as well as a smiling face?

8.5.08 On Vacation
This is the same marquee I shot in February. They do sometimes manage to be pretty entertaining over at Old Chicago's.

8.3.08 Sword-wielder
Thomas used a sword as his illustrative device this Sunday. He had fun swinging it around as he spoke on how fathers need to forge their sons as a blacksmith forges a blade.

8.1.08 Mile High Sundae
This is called the "Mile High Sundae" over at Champps. I believe this would define "gigantal" quite well. No, we couldn't finish it. (There were only two of us!)
