5.31.08 Nametag
This is the nametag of the teenage guy who took our order at Panera Bread tonight. I thought it was kind of cute.

5.30.08 Go, go, Speed Racer!
The movie didn't get great reviews. I was only one of four people in the theater. But man, I grew up on Speed Racer and Japanese animation, I love the Wachowski brothers' work (e.g. The Matrix), and so for me, Speed Racer 2008 totally rocked.

5.28.08 Spider dew
Water droplets on a spiderweb. This picture really doesn't do it justice. There were about a dozen of them on this bush, and they were absolutely beautiful.

5.25.08 Reading nook
I forgot to carry my camera around today and I can't figure out how to get pictures off my new camera, so here's a shot of my daughter's new "reading nook."

5.24.08 Snake boy
I had a couple other choice photos for today, but this one had to be posted. We were at the park when this boy and his dad strolled onto the grounds, each wearing two very large snakes on their bodies. o.O
They were really nice though, and we talked to them for awhile. These two snakes are named Sarah and Lizzie.

5.23.08 Digging in
My daughter and I shared a molten chocolate cookie at Red Lobster this afternoon. She can be pretty fast with the fork when it comes to dessert.

5.20.08 Dandelions
I don't care if they ARE weeds. I still think they can be pretty. (Of course, this isn't my yard...)

5.11.08 Kids meals
We went to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch on Mother's Day. I love how healthy their kids meals are. And yes, my boy eats green stuff. My girl? Not so much.

5.8.08 Bookmarks
At the library tonight, I noticed that there were a lot of bookmarks pinned to this long wall where you turn in books. I asked a lady if those were ones that were left behind in books people returned and she said yes.
So THEN I asked if I could take a picture because I thought it was fascinating, and they invited me to come to the back and get a better view. :oD They even moved a bunch of carts out of the way to give me a better shot.
It was really interesting all the different things people used for bookmarks in addition to traditional ones. This wall isn't even a quarter of the number they had hanging there.

5.6.08 White-tailed deer
I was fortunate enough tonight to come across two white-tailed deer grazing along the side of the road tonight. Lucky me!

5.5.08 Scallions
Totally uninspired today. (That seems to be happening a lot more lately. Bah!) The pictures I took of some clouds earlier in the day didn't do them justice. So you get the chopped scallions for tonight's fried rice.

5.4.08 Registry oddity
When my husband and I were dating, he named a star after me through the International Star Registry. It was supposed to be dated on my birthday, but there was a clerical error, so the document they sent to us actually has the wrong month. Normally this wouldn't be too strange, but this is a day that doesn't exist.
30 days hath September,
April, June, and November.
28 days makes February fine,
But in a Leap Year it has 29.
All the rest have 31,
and now the poem has been done.

5.1.08 Snow white
We had a sudden and heavy snowfall around 8:00 a.m. By 10:00, everything was blanketed in a thick layer of white. It stopped snowing at about 11:00. By 1:00 in the afternoon, the sun had come out so brightly, it melted practically all the snow away. But I did get a shot of these snowy blossoms before the evidence disappeared.
